Building Mental Fitness

Her are some ways you can use to ensure you have good mental capacity.

Positive mindset

Self-talk and self-awareness – the way you talk to and feel about yourself – is the key to learning how to be more positive. Thinking negatively is really just a bad habit that you can unlearn. Positive thinking leads to positive outcomes, and is known to be good for your mental wellbeing.

Confidence

Self-confidence is when you believe in yourself and your abilities. It sounds simple, but it can be a tough thing to build up. And of course there’s the fact that dealing with mental health issues can affect how you feel about yourself. We’ve put together some handy tips to help you out. If you find yourself struggling with these tips, it’s a good idea to seek help from a mental health professional.

Healthy habits

They say that old habits die hard, which means that breaking a bad habit may take work, but it is possible. Changing behaviours associated with cigarettes, caffeine, or even negative thinking, involves retraining your brain. Learn the best tools and strategies for approaching an old problem in a new way.

Self-care

Sometimes chilling out is way easier said than done, but being able to relax is super-important for your health and wellbeing. Fortunately, there are lots of ways to relax, so you can choose the ones that you actually enjoy. It’s kinda ironic: relaxation takes some work, but it's worth it.

Good sleep

It's simple, really: your body and mind need sleep in order to function properly. But actually getting a good night's sleep isn’t always so simple. Luckily, we've got some hints on things you can do to make it easier to get enough Zs.

Exercise

We all know that exercise is good for us, but it can become a problem if you’re doing it too much. Recognise the tell-tale signs of compulsive exercising and learn who to turn to for help.

Eating well

When you cook your own food, you learn what goes into a healthy meal (ie. fruit, veg, whole grains, lean protein) and what isn’t necessary (ie. artificial preservatives and flavours, extra sugar). This is especially important when you’re young because you need to eat nutritious food to fuel your growing mind and body.
